Hello, friends! My name is Phoenix and I am one of the most special pups at KGARL. When I arrived here, I was so thin and sick that they were afraid I was not going to make it. They have taken such good care of me and I am so excited to tell you that I am now ready to go to my FOREVER home!! I hit a few bumps along the way and it has taken a long time to get me healthy. I was treated for heartworms and the vet and the wonderful lady caring for me discovered that I have Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, or EPI. What does this mean for my forever family? I will require special food and cannot eat anything else or I may get sick again. Also, I have to take medicine every day. I don’t mind, though, because I know it keeps me healthy and I feel SO much better. I am a sweet, playful young man and with the proper care, they say I can live a long, happy and healthy life. I am so lucky that I was brought here and given a second chance. I get along well with other dogs and cats. I love to be scratched and cuddled and PLAY! I am housebroken and neutered, too! I am anxiously awaiting a family of my very own and cannot wait to meet you! I have become a sort of mascot for KGARL and heard that I am pretty famous around here. They love me very much and are so proud of the progress I have made and they will miss me very much. I will be forever grateful to KGARL for saving me, but would love to have a family of my very own. I may come with a few more instructions and expenses than some dogs, but the love you will receive in return is priceless. If you would like to add Phoenix to your home, please visit http://www.kgarl.org/info/adoption to learn about KGARL's adoption process, and to submit an adoption application. More about PhoenixGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Needs special care Adoption process Submitting an application does not guarantee a specific dog or cat. We strive to match the personality and needs of our foster dogs and cats to a family who will best fulfill those needs. If a family is not approved for a particular pet, it does not mean they will not be a good pet owner, it just means that their needs and the needs of the particular pet don’t match. We do not adopt on a “first come, first serve” basis. Once your application is received, the application process begins. We will review your application, check your references, check with your vet (if there are other animals in the household), speak to a landlord (if you rent), and arrange for a home visit. Once your application is pre-approved (meaning, we don't see any red flags based on our preliminary review of your application), the applicant may be invited to meet their potential family member at a location convenient to the foster family (usually at the King George Petco). Adoptions will NOT take place at the meet & greet, this is just a chance for us to get to know you and for you to spend time with our animals. After the meet and greet, we will ask that you spend some time thinking over your decision and we will do the same. After the application review process is complete (meet & greet with animal, home visit, reference/vet checks, background check, etc.), if all is acceptable to both adopter and KGARL and we all agree to move forward, we will schedule a day/time to finalize the adoption. The adopter will be asked to sign the final paperwork and we will collect the adoption fee (cash, check, or paypal are all acceptable). At this time, you can either pick up your pet, or schedule a time to do so. Adopters will be required to schedule an appointment with their veterinarian of choice within 15 days of taking your new pet home. Please note that we do not do same day adoptions. If you are applying for a popular animal (such as puppies, small dogs, or special breeds), it can take several days for our volunteers to reach a decision that is best for the animal. We understand that it's difficult to wait, but please don't email us multiple times a day to check on the status of your application. We are a very small group and the same people that are reviewing your application are also replying to hundreds of emails and Facebook messages. We are all volunteers and have full time jobs outside of KGARL, so any time spent replying to emails/messages is time we are not reviewing your application. All Adoptions Include: Adoption Fees (unless otherwise noted in the pet's description): Dogs: See pet's description |
