Please note that for all of the Committees, the Committee Chair is responsible for managing (not necessarily doing) the tasks that are identified in each section. This is a great opportunity to improve your management skills in order to apply those skills to areas outside of KGARL.
Shelter Committee Committee Chair Take pictures of animals at the King George Shelter Transports animals from the shelter to other groups Short Term Fostering while a rescue is coordinated Place shelter pets on PetFinder Send out and respond to weekly shelter emails Post shelter animals for adoption on rescue websites and forums Search for rescue groups to take shelter animals
Adoption Committee Committee Chair Review applications and call references Follow-up calls/emails to check on adopted pets and offer advice if needed Update KGARL adoption records (Microsoft Access) Perform Home Visits for KGARL pets Help out at monthly PetSmart adoption events Transport KGARL animals to adoption events Return phone calls from people that are interested in adopting from KGARL
Foster Committee Committee Chair Weekly contact with foster homes Deliver supplies to foster homes Place foster animals on PetFinder and update as needed Transport foster animals to vet appointments Create flyers for pets in foster care Foster a KGARL animal
Fundraising Committee Committee Chair Solicit companies for donations Create flyers to advertise upcoming events Place donation boxes in public places and collect money Organize KGARL events Mail out fundraising letters Volunteer at events Transport supplies to and from events Take pictures at events Write newsletter articles about events Register FoodLion MVP cards online yearly
Spay/Neuter Committee Committee Chair Update spay/neuter database (Microsoft Access) and mail out vouchers Return phone calls to people that need spay/neuter assistance Create flyers to advertise spay/neuter assistance Submit invoices to grant organizations
Grant Committee Committee Chair Search for new grants that KGARL can apply for Fill out applications for KGARL grants Create grant follow-up reports
Publicity Committee Committee Chair Update KGARL website Create the content for KGARL website Start and respond to KGARL forum postings Newsletter Editor Submit newsletter articles Create and submit newspaper ads Call into radio stations to advertise events Create KGARL flyers, brochures, and other items
Membership Committee Committee Chair Keep track of volunteers and which activities they prefer Follow up with volunteers after events Call new members and welcome them to KGARL Send Thank You notes to volunteers after events Review membership applications Create flyers/events to encourage new members Contribute to the KGARL Membership Guide
